This endowed fellowship was established in 2015 through the generosity of Chris and Kate Mathews with the purpose of helping the BB doctoral program recruit and retain top notch students.

Joline received her bachelor's degree in chemistry at the University of Washington, Bothell. After graduating, she worked in the undergraduate research lab and biotech companies for a few years before joining the Biochemistry and Biophysics graduate program at OSU. By the end of her first year, she decided to join Dr. Sarah Clark's lab to investigate the structure and mechanism of the mechanosensitive protein complex in C. elegans.

Hannah received her bachelor's degree in Medical Biochemistry and Microbiology from Kansas State University in 2023. During her time there, she worked in a Biochemistry lab making peptide nano-capsules for cell transfection as well as for suspension of hydrophobic compounds. After finishing three rotations with Weihong Qiu, Sarah Clark, and Colin Johnson, she joined Sarah Clark's lab to investigate the structural biology of Bridge-Like Lipid Transport Proteins.

Congratulations Joline and Hannah, and we wish you the best of luck in your graduate career, and thank you Chris and Kate for your generosity and support of our program.
